Etinan First Lady harps on personal hygiene, shares pads to secondary students

About 50 girls from 10 different schools in Etinan Local Government Area have benefited from Pad A Girl Child Campaign as Etinan First Lady, Mrs. Emily Uko Umoh emphasized on need for personal hygiene.

The campaign, sponsored by Rubies of Joy foundation, Renewed Heart of Joy Foundation and Renny Cares For All Foundation and in partnership with the first Lady of Etinan Local Government Area, Mrs Emily Uko Umoh was aimed at celebrating menstrual hygiene day on 28th May of every year.

The wife of the Executive Chairman, Mrs. Emily Uko Umoh, represented by Comrade Ukeme Amselem appreciated the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for his unquestionable love for girl child.

She described girl children as unique creature from God specially designed to add value to the society and incubate humans that will make our world proud.

The First Lady stressed the need for them to take personal hygiene serious especially during their monthly flow.

“As a potential mothers , you must be models to your children and instill same to them. The campaign is meant to give you a little assistance in keeping yourself clean.”

Also speaking, Dr Lizzy Imoh advised the girls on personal hygiene while encouraging them to concentrate on their studies.

She urged them to build self confidence, promote positive health care and keep themselves neat always especially during their monthly flow.

Dr Chineyen Eze demonstrated to the girls on how to use pad during menstruation.

The highpoint of the event was presentation of packs of pad to the participants.

In attendance were Supervisor for Women Affairs Hon. Udeme Ekaenang, Mrs Dianah Ekong WDO, Dr Irene Udom.
